One of four centres in the country to train people in retrofitting homes to conserve energy is to be located in Connacht.
The centres should be of particular interest to people working in the construction industry who want to learn about energy conservation and improve their so-called ‘green skills.’
The centre in Connacht will open under the auspices of Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board but it’s not clear yet where exactly the centre will be.
Sligo Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh says the centres will provide the highest standards of training and qualifications, with huge employment opportunities.
