Brexit deal finally agreed



The EU and UK have agreed a Brexit trade deal.

 

The agreement was reached following marathon talks overnight and brings 4 years of negotiations to an end.

 

It means there won’t be extra charges on European goods in the UK and the British government can now pursue trade deals with other non EU countries.

 

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen  had this message for b at a press conference marking the conclusion of talks.

 

 

The deal averts the worst case scenario of a no deal outcome which would have seen WTO trade tariffs applied to goods and services.

Minister Coveney said the deal protects Ireland as well as we could possible have hoped:
