No sittings to be moved from Sligo Court House

No court sittings will be moved out of Sligo Courthouse in the long-term to alternative venues such as Tullamore or Letterkenny.

It’s also been confirmed that no downgrading of facilities will take place in Sligo.

The issue of Sligo courthouse’s suitability for jury trails arose after fears that jury trials might be moved from Sligo to Letterkenny or Tullamore.

However, Sligo Independent Councillor Marie Cassrely says that assurances have been provided that no sittings will be moved from Sligo.

It’s also understood that planning permission has been granted to bring balcony space up to standard so that it can be used for jury trials.
