Kayaker rescued from Lough Gill



The local Coast Guard were involved in a number of recuse operation over the weekend, the various operations included a surfer in trouble, a walker in difficulty, a boat aground and a kayaker clinging to a kayak.

 

 

In one of the most serious incidents the Coast Guard was involved in an operation yesterday in Lough Gill.  The alarm was raised after a member of the public heard whistle blasts from the lake and alerted emergency services.

 

The Rescue 118 helicopter were tasked to carry out a search of the lake where a heat source was found on our FLIR (Forward Looking InfraRed) camera. This was identified as a kayaker who was clinging to an upturned kayak and was lifted from the lake.
