Rope which is used as a safety railing along the floating walkway in Drumshanbo Co. Leitrim was cut recently.
Gardaí say the rope was cut between 9pm Thursday and 7.15am Friday morning last.
A significant amount of the safety feature was cut along the route causing it to be closed temporarily.
