Future needs of renal dialysis unit in Sligo to be examined



An appraisal is to take place early in the New Year to establish the future needs of the regional dialysis unit at Sligo University Hospital.

The hope is that a new until will eventually be built, particularly as a new nephrologist, or kidney specialist, is to be appointed.

Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor Donal Gilroy, a lifetime supporter of Diabetes Ireland, recently put down a question at a meeting of the regional health forum about the future of the dialysis unit in Sligo, which is the oldest in the country.
