Cross Border workers facing double tax bill



It’s emerged that North West Residents, living in the Republic of Ireland and employed  in Northern Ireland which were forced to work from their homes in the Republic of Ireland  during the Covid-19 pandemic could end up having to pay tax both north and south of the border.

 

Donegal TD Pearse Doherty is calling on the finance minister Paschal Donohoe to address the situation.

 

The Sinn Fein spokesperson on finance says workers that work just one day from home could be hit with two tax bills.

 

Although exemptions were made for this during the Covid-19 pandemic, The Sinn Fein TD is calling for a longer term system changes that reflect the realities of modern working:
