New Garda coastal operation launched in Sligo today

A new Garda plan aimed at monitoring criminal activity along the North West coast was launched in Rosses Point earlier this afternoon.

Operation Dualgas aims to target such criminal activity on our waterways and along the coast by working with communities to gather evidence, analyse the data, and act on it.

Speaking at the launch at Sligo Yacht Club, Chief Superintendent of the Sligo-Leitrim Division, Aidan Glacken outlined the importance of the initiative, as well as the co-operation of members of the public.

Also in attendance was Minister Frank Feighan, who is Minister of State for Public Health, Well Being and National Drugs Strategy.

He praised all the agencies involved in the Operation Dualgas project.
