Additional funding for local walking and cycling routes



50 million euro is being made available for county councils to create more walking and cycling routes.

 

Applications will be made through local authorities for repairs to bike tracks and paths – or to create new ones.

 

The scheme is being focused on rural towns and villages as opposed to urban areas.  It’s expected that rural areas in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim will benefit from the funding.

 

Junior Transport Minister Hildegarge Naughten says applications will be open for councils until the New Year:
