Met Eireann have issued a status yellow weather warning for snow/ice for the north west.
The warning is in effect until 7am tomorrow morning.
The warning covers Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, Mayo and Galway.
The forecaster is predicting falls of hail, sleet and snow and icy stretches in areas.
Director of Emergency Services With Donegal County Council, gary Martin, says local authorities will now be implementing their winter plan.
