Feighan seeks clarification from Eir CEO following her comments about Sligo call centre

Junior Minister and Sligo/Leitrim TD Frank Feighan is calling on the CEO of Eir to clarify comments she has made about the telecommunication company’s call centre in Sligo.

Minister Feighan says he has been receiving phone calls all morning from irate staff at Eir and from the business community in Sligo.

He says they are concerned about the consequences of Carolan Lennon’s comments on future investment in Sligo and in the North West region by call centre companies.

She blamed the lack of a history in Sligo of contact centre staff as one of the reasons for its difficulties in dealing with customer complaints.

She made the comments on RTE PrimeTime programme last night and again before the Oireachtas Transport Committee earlier today.

However, Minister Feighan says there have been other call centres operating in the region and the same problems have not arisen.

He also says there are ample State and local supports available for upskilling and training.

Minister Feighan says he will be writing to Ms Lennon today about her comments.
