308 patients have waited for a bed in north west hospitals so far this month

308 patients have had to wait on trolleys or chairs in the north west so far this month.

224 were waiting in Sligo University Hospital and a further 84 in Letterkenny University Hospital during the month of November.

This compares to 214 waiting in Sligo and 132 in Letterkenny at the same time last month.

In October, Sligo had the 4th highest waiting figures in the country.

There are hopes that the numbers will be reduced there in time as a number of construction projects are taking place at the hospital.

Today, there are 17 people waiting in Sligo University Hospital and 2 in Letterkenny University Hospital with the worst affected nationwide being in University Hospital Limerick where 66 people are waiting for a bed.
