Covid-19 incidence rate varies across OceanFM region



The Covid-19 incidence rate in the OceanFM region continues to vary.

Sligo has seen a decrease while there has been an increase in both Leitrim and Donegal since this time last week.

Between November 3rd and November 16th 114 new cases were recorded; 63 in County Sligo, 38 in South Donegal and 13 in North Leitrim.

This compares to a total of 99 cases recorded between October 27th and November 9th in the same areas.

Broken down into the rate of infection per 100,000 people, the Sligo/Drumcliff Electoral Area has decreased from 124.5 last week to 62.2, in Ballymote/Tubbercurry the rate has gone down from 116 to 89.8 and the Sligo/Strandhill area has seen a decrease from 217.7 to 132.5.

The county has gone from above the national average last week to a rate of 74.8 this week which is the 4th lowest in the country.

In South Donegal the rate has increased from 113.2 to 143.4 this week; the rate for the county is 264.5 which makes it the highest nationally but is still a slight decrease from last weeks rate of 281.4.

Manorhamilton has increased with a current rate of infection of 120.1; the rate for Leitrim county has also increased going from 53.1 to 96.7.

Yesterday, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed 429 new cases and 4 additional deaths; the same time last week there were 395 new cases and 1 additional deaths
