The minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris has granted permission to St Angela’s College Sligo and the IT Sligo to explore the possibility of a merger between the two campuses.
The new merger if successful will act as a major component of the new Technological University that is hoped to be established in the North West between IT Sligo, GMIT and LIT.
The news has been welcomed the Sligo/ Leitrim TD and Minister for state Frank Feighan.
Speaking to Ocean FM news Minister Feighan says students and the north west in general will benefit from the merger.
