Overall 14 day incidence rate continues to decrease across OceanFM region



The overall Covid-19 incidence rate in the OceanFM region continues to decrease.

However, both Sligo and Donegal are above the national average.

The rate of infection compared to a fortnight ago in all local electoral areas in Sligo, north Leitrim and south Donegal has decreased.

Between October 27th and November 9th; 99 new cases were recorded in County Sligo, 30 in South Donegal and less than 5 in north Leitrim.

This compares to a total of 393 cases recorded between October 13th and 26th in the same areas.

Broken down into rate of infection, in the Sligo/Drumcliff Electoral Area it has decreased from 362.1, two weeks ago, to 124.5, in Ballymote/Tubbercurry the rate has gone down from 250.6 to 116 and while the Sligo/Strandhill area has seen a significant decrease from 733.6 to 217.7, it still remains above the national average of 135 per 100,000 people.

The national rate for the county of Sligo however has decreased from 401.3 to 154.1 in the last 2 weeks.

In South Donegal the rate has decreased from 264.2 to 113.2; the rate for the county is 281.4, down from 321; however the county still has the highest rate of infection per 100,000 people in the country.

While Manorhamilton has decreased significantly, going from 341.9 two weeks ago to less than 5 this week; the rate for Leitrim county is the second lowest nationwide at 53.1.

Yesterday, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed 395 new cases and 1 additional deaths; the same time two weeks ago there were 866 new cases and 6 additional deaths
