Government criticised over nomination of former Sligo Senator to SIPO



The government has been criticised for trying to appoint a former NAGP lobbyist to the board of the Standards in Public Office Commission.

It comes as SIPO is preparing to investigate the leaking by Leo Varadkar of a confidential document to the National Association of General Practitioners.

Former Sligo Fianna Fáil Senator Geraldine Feeney has been nominated to SIPO by the government.

But Sinn Féin’s Mairead Farrell says she doesn’t believe that’s appropriate given Ms Feeney’s past work for the NAGP:
