A Sligo councillor is calling on the local authority to buy a drone.
Fianna Fail Councillor Donal Gilroy says it could help in areas such as engineering, planning, environment, housing and enforcement issues.
He says using a drone would reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
The data protection issues arising from drone usage is now being considered by the council.
He told Ocean FM News what made him think about the idea.
