Pheasant shooting season hit by Covid restrictions

Among the activities hit by the Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions is the pheasant shooting season, which was to have started on November 1st.

The pheasant shooting season normally involves shooting club members travelling to pheasant shoots around the country.

It’s also an important contributor to the tourism industry throughout the north west, with groups coming from abroad for the shooting season.

Fianna Fail Senator Eugene Murphy has urged shooting club members to stand in solidarity with others in the effort to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Roger McCarrick, chairman of Cloonacool Gun Club in south Sligo, says that while the postponement of the pheasant shooting season is disappointing for those involved, it must be looked at in the context of the bigger issue of the battle against Covid.
