McGuinness still focussed on soccer coaching career

Donegal’s 2012 All-Ireland winning football manager Jim McGuinness says he is still focussed on progressing his career as a soccer coach, more than 16 months since his last position as manager of Charlotte Independence in the USA.

Speaking to the Irish Independent newspaper ahead of his return to our television screens as a GAA pundit with Sky Sports this weekend, McGuinness says he sees his future remaining in soccer despite having been involved in a coaching capacity recently with the Galway senior footballers and the Louth football champions Naomh Martin.

In a separate interview with Sky Sports this week, he indicated that he had also done some work with the Donegal panel in recent months.

The Glenties man, who was previously involved with Celtic and Bejing Guoan in China, is open to coaching soccer in Ireland too, should the opportunity arise.

McGuinness returned to Ireland at the end of the summer after his three-year contract with Charlotte came to an end after just six months.
