Local TD suggests delaying Covid payment taxation

A local TD is suggesting to delay the taxing of Covid payments in the run up to Christmas.

Pandemic Unemployment Payments have been taxable since the beginning of measures aimed to try and stop the spread of Covid in March.

Donegal Independent Deputy, Thomas Pringle, believes lifting the taxes now would encourage people to spend locally.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy Pringle says while the tax won’t be that high for most people, it’s important to keep as much money as possible in the economy for the festive season.
