School secretaries’, caretakers’ employment to be ‘regularised’

School secretaries and caretakers are to have their employment ‘regularised’ under a preliminary agreement that has been reached at the Labour Relations Commission.

Many of the secretaries and caretakers are on relatively low pay and have no job security.

The workers, represented by FORSA, were planning to strike but this action has now been deferred to allow for talks on the details of a final agreement.

FORSA member Frank Considine, a secretary in St. Clare’s Primary School in Manorhamilton, has been telling Ocean FM News about the latest development.
