Almost 17,000 people in the north west are now receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
There’e almost 11,000 in Donegal, more than 3,500 in Sligo and about 2,000 in Leitrim.
Leitrim has the lowest number of people in the country receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.
The number for the county is 1,703, up from 1,447 last week
In Donegal, the numbers receiving the weekly Payment is now 10,950, up from 9,119 last week.
While 3,590 are receiving the payment in Sligo, up from 2,974 last week.
Yesterday, more than 295 thousand people received the Payment nationally – while a further 211 thousand people were on the Live Register at the end of September.
The sector most heavily represented in the figures remains the hotel, restaurants and bar sector, followed by wholesale and retail and admin support.
The sector least represented is the agriculture, forest and mining industries.
Almost 75,000 of workers on the PUP around the country are under-25, with nearly 14,000 of these signing up for the payment in the last week – that’s an increase of over 22 percent
It was announced in the Budget earlier this month that the PUP has been extended until next April… by which time it is expected to have cost the state more than 5.2 billion euro.
