Farmers must be allowed to attend ringside sales of both cattle and sheep.
That’s according to a local farm leader who says if off-licences can stay open, there can be no reason for the ringside sale of livestock.
It follows a situation last week when the online bidding service collapsed as livestock were already gathered in marts and buyers were trying to register online.
Vincent Roddy of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association says having buyers at the ring is the best way for farmers to get a good price for their animals.
