Despite their best efforts, Leitrim have been relegated to Division 4 of the Allianz football league, after their 2-11 to 0-15 loss to Tipperary in Avantcard park Sean Mac Diarmada.
They were a point behind at half time, but an injury to Ryan O’Rourke was a heavy blow to their uphill battle.
Leitrim finished second bottom of their group with Louth finishing bottom of the table.
Leitrim will join Sligo in Division 4, the team they replaced in Division 3 last season.
Sligo were relegated from the third tier in 2019, while Leitrim were promoted along with division winners Derry.
