Donegal duo in Ireland matchday squad

Head coach Adam Griggs was forced into two changes to the Ireland team and replacements named earlier on Thursday to face Italy in Saturday’s Six Nations clash at Energia Park.

Donegal’s Laura Feely (pictured left) and Eimear Considine have been ruled out, with the IRFU describing the switches as “a precaution following inconclusive outcomes of Covid-19 tests on one player and a resultant potential close contact with two other players”.

The third player involved is not in the matchday 23 but is part of the wider playing group.

Laura Sheehan comes into the back three, with Lauren Delany moving from right wing to full-back in place of Considine. Leah Lyons replaces Feely among the replacements.

The IRFU says it is assisting the three players, who remain well and are self-isolating.

Donegal native Larissa Muldoon (pictured right) is included among the Ireland replacements.

IT Sligo graduate Cliodhna Moloney is named in the front row.

Riverstown’s Aoife McDermott misses this match because of injury.
