A Sligo/Leitrim TD is calling for the work of priests, clergy and ministers from faith communities to be regarded as an essential service during the Level 5 Covid restrictions that come into effect at midnight tonight.
Junior Minister Frank Feighan says this is necessary because clergy often have to travel outside a five-mile area.
He says he has brought the request on behalf of the clergy to government and is hopeful that, what he has described as common sense, will prevail.
