Stormont proposal to ban fracking in North

A proposal to ban fracking in northern Ireland will be discussed by members of the assembly in Stormont this afternoon.

Fracking has been an issue of major concern in border areas, including around Belcoo and Belleek.

Sinn Fein MLA Gemma Dolan pointed out there is already a ban on fracking in the Republic as a result of a motion brought before the last Dail by former Sligo/Leitrim Fine Gael TD Tony McLoughlin.

She says the same should apply across the entire island.
