A Sligo councillor is calling for a ban on the sale of dogs on Facebook, Done Deal, Buy and Sell, Twitter and other social media online pages.
It came at this month’s meeting of Sligo County Council when Solidarity People Before Profit Councillor Gino O Boyle said people sometimes buy pets without knowing enough about them.
His call comes just over two months before Christmas, when some people buy pets as gifts that are later abandoned or taken to shelters.
