Sligo councillor says Knock airport needs a turbo-boost in tomorrow’s budget

A Sligo Fine Gael councillor says its crucial that the government provides support to ensure the survival of Ireland West Airport in tomorrow (Tuesday’s) budget.

The facility, between Knock and Charlestown, is facing huge financial losses as a result of the collapse in passenger numbers.

Cllr Dara Mulvey, cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, was speaking after he met at the airport with its Head of Marketing Donal Healy (pictured).

Cllr Mulvey says the airport is vital for the west and north west.
