Open discussion needed on overhauling care for older people

There needs to be a real and frank discussion about radically overhauling the nations long term care for older people.

That’s according to the charity that promotes the needs of vulnerable adults, Safeguarding Ireland, who say there is a ‘generational conflict’ over the cost of caring for older people.

A new report highlights the need to completely overall the current system as opposed to reforming the current model.

Speaking to OceanFM news, Chairperson of Safeguarding Ireland, Patricia Rickard-Clarke, says while the majority of people want the best care possible for their loved ones, there are conflicts on how to pay for services.
