A Leitrim Councillor is calling for the Equality Commission to investigate age discrimination in the Pandemic Payment.
Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon claims that pensioners were blocked from applying for the payment even though they were working when the first Covid-19 restrictions were imposed back in the spring of this year.
Cllr Fallon says there are many people of pension age that continue to work on a part time basis and they should be entitled to receive the pandemic payment just as students would who work part time as well as being involved in education.
