Concerns about BreastCheck service

A Sligo councillor is calling for BreastCheck services to be available to all who need them as soon as possible.

Independent Councillor Marie Casserly has called for the county council to write to the Minister of Health to ensure the availability of services and that the checks can be done every two years.

Services were paused in March due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

When they resume this month, around 80,000 appointments will be dealt with first.

Councillor Casserly says that due to the delayed appointments, it’s likely women will now be seen every three years as opposed to two years, which, she says, is worrying.
