Consumers must shop around to offset energy price increase

A Sligo Councillor has urged the general public to shop around for the most competitive prices available in order to offset the increase in electricity charges which came into effect this week.

It’s been claimed that electricity bills have increase by €54 a year to subsidise renewable electricity.

Sligo/Drumcliff Fianna Fail Councillor, Donal Gilroy says it’s unfair that VAT is also being added to this increase.

He says that consumers must be prepared to change their supplier every year in order to secure the best possible deal.
