Sligo councillors to decide on meeting venue this morning

Sligo county councillors will hold a special meeting at County Hall in Riverside this morning to decide where to hold their monthly meetings from now on.

Such a meeting must be held when a change of venue is being considered.

For the past few months, monthly meetings of the council have been held in the spacious Knocknarea Arena at IT Sligo, where the required social distancing can be adhered to so as to comply with Covid regulations..

Ocean FM News understands that monthly council meetings may now be moved to a local hotel. However, that won’t be known until a decision is made at this morning’s meeting.

Also this morning, councillors will consider new Standard Operating Guidance for attendance at council meetings by councillors, officials, the media and the general public.

Council Cathaoirleach Dara Mulvey says safety for everyone is the council’s top priority.
