Local community organisations are to benefit from funding

A number of local community organisations are to benefit from funding to support sport and physical activities in the region.

€7.3 million from the Dormant Accounts Fund is being allocated to support community groups across the country.

A total of €262,100 is going towards numerous programmes across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal such as Community Sports and Physical Activity Hubs, the Sports Inclusion Disability Programme, volunteer and youth leadership training and Urban Outdoor Adventure Initiatives.

Sligo/Leitrim TD and Minister of State for Public Health, Frank Feighan, says the funding is aimed at bringing communities together in a more active and healthy lifestyle.
