A Sligo/Leitrim TD believes an increase in salary for the Defence Forces needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry spoke in the Dail yesterday where the Defence Amendment Bill (2020) was discussed.
Topics discussed included rehiring former members in an attempt to fill the 1,100 vacancies in the force.
Deputy MacSharry also believes a redress scheme is needed for those who suffered side effects after using the controversial anti-malaria drug, Lariam, when deployed overseas.
Speaking in the Dail, he said the issue around sufficient pay needs to be ‘moved on.’
