Stuck in the mud: Gibbons calls for improvements to Cartron pedestrian link

A Sligo councillor is calling for a lane that is used by more than 90% of pedestrians from one of the largest estates in Sligo town to be upgraded.

It’s known as Mud Lane and is a walking link between Cartron and the Rosses Point junction, where a new apartment block has recently been completed.

Sligo County Council says Mud Lane is not a public road and that title to it may need to be clarified.

The council also says the route’s proximity to the Sligo Bay Special Area of Conservation is likely to create challenges while funding would also have to found for any works.

Sinn Fein Councillor Arthur Gibbons has been telling Ocean FM News about Mud Lane, and the work he feels should be done on it.
