Tenders are currently being reviewed for the building of a new National Surf Centre of Excellence in Strandhill in County Sligo.
The news emerged at a meeting of councillors from the Sligo borough municipal district in response to a query from Councillor Sinead Maguire.
The meeting heard the tender prices are above the estimated cost but some increases were expected due to Covid and construction inflation.
Council Director of Services Bartley Gavin told councillors the costs indicated in the tenders received will noe be discussed with funders to bridge the gap.
