Dangerous Pedestrian Crossing in Manorhamilton

A Leitrim councillor is warning that someone will be killed at a pedestrian crossing in Manorhamilton unless action is taken.

Independent Councillor Felim Gurn is highlighting the danger on the McDermott Terrace crossing where, he says, cars are speeding through a junction.

He says with schools having reopened, children think it’s safe to step out onto the pedestrian crossing, only for cars, lorries or vans to suddenly come.

Cllr Gurn is calling for ramps on both sides of the crossing, with better signage on the approaches from SperValu and from the N16.

He warns there is a need for immediate action before there is a fatality.
