Sligo has lowest 14 day infection rate nationally



Sligo has the lowest rate of Covid-19 infections per 100,000 people while Leitrim has the third highest behind Dublin and Limerick.

Figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre shows a county by county breakdown of Ireland’s 14-day incidence rate between Wednesday the 2nd of September and Tuesday the 15th of September.

The latest daily number of positive cases released by NPHET show an additional 20 cases in Donegal, while Leitrim is one of 11 counties sharing 28 cases.

The 14 day incidence rate for Sligo was 7.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is the lowest infection rate in the country.

Leitrim, however, has the third highest rate nationally at 81.1 cases per 100,000 with Louth following on 88.5 and Dublin the worst with 109.6

Donegal is on 45.9.

The rate of infection has been increasing in every county; comparing the latest figures with those from last Saturday show the 14 day rate in Donegal was on 36.4, Leitrim with 65.5 and Sligo on 3.1.

Louth, Dublin and Leitrim have either higher or similar 14 day rates than Kildare when the county was put into lockdown.

Community Healthcare Organisations are split into different regions around the country with CHO1 encompassing Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan.

There have been 135 confirmed cases in this sector which gives an infection rate of 34.5 across all health centres here.
