Kenny calls for more third level places

Calls are being made on the minister for higher education to increase the number of third level places available to students so as to offset the increased CAO points required for access to certain courses this year.

The calls have been made by the Sligo Leitrim TD, Martin Kenny who says that students that completed their Leaving  last year and deferred their place in college, could find that the points requirement for their preferred courses have risen considerably due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the 2020 Leaving cert.

Deputy Kenny has urged Minister Simon Harris to consider adjusting grades of those who sat their exams prior to this year to account for any grade inflation in 2020.
