Huge anger with Fishermen over penalty legislation

There has been widespread anger in the fishing industry to the news that the Taoiseach (who had also been acting minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine before yesterday) Michael Martin has enacted a controversial penalty points legislation without consulting key stakeholders in the industry.

The CEO of the Killybegs Fishermen’s Organisation, Sean O’ Donoughe has accused the Fianna Fáil leader of doing a U turn by enacting a legislation that he had previously opposed while in opposition.

Speaking to Ocean FM News Sean O’ Donoghue says the new legislation could have serious consequences for fishermen.
