Unprecedented number of callouts for Sligo/Leitrim Mountain Rescue



There has been an unprecedented number of callouts for the Sligo/Leitrim Mountain Rescue team since the beginning of August.

On Wednesday, a woman sustained a serious lower limb injury while on Briecklieve Mountain, the team were able to get to her and transfer her to an ambulance where she was taken to Sligo University Hospital.

While on August 12th, a 14 year old sustained a lower leg injury on Knocknarea who needed to be stretchered off.

There were three other incidents before these on Benbulben, Slish Woods and Coney Island.

The Sligo/Leitrim mountain Rescue team are appealing to members of the public to walk within their limits and to wear correct clothing especially boots.
