Rovers to face UCD in last 16 of FAI Cup



Sligo Rovers have been drawn away to UCD in the second round of the extra.ie FAI Cup.

The draw, which was made by Republic of Ireland senior international manager Stephen Kenny on Wednesday, gave Liam Buckley’s side a trip to the Belfield bowl at the end of the month.

The sides met at the quarter-final stage of the cup last season at the Showgrounds, which Rovers won 4-0.

Finn Harps prize for knocking out St Pat’s on Monday night, is a trip to the Carlisle Grounds to play Bray Wanderers. This pairing will re-kindle memories of the 1999 FAI Cup final which Bray won (2-1) after two replays.

The second round draw in full is:

UCD v Sligo Rovers
Bray Wanderers v Finn Harps
Bohemians v Cabinteely
Shamrock R (holders) v Cork City
Drogheda Utd v Derry City
Athlone Town v Wexford Youths
Cobh Ramblers v Dundalk
Galway Utd v Shelbourne.

The ties will be played on the weekend of Aug 28-30th – and will be decided on the day.
