Childcare facilities for children who were attending the Young Explorers centre in Collooney, Co. Sligo, are to be continued by a new provider.
The Young Explorers creche has closed but a Sligo town-based childcare operator is to now take over the Collooney facility.
Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh, chairman of the Sligo/Drumcliffe Municipal District, says the new arrangement is a long-term one:
Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says news that childcare will continue to be provided in Collooney will come as a great relief to many parents in the area, among them frontline workers.
