Water works completed in Ballintra

Irish Water says works to improve drinking water supply and quality in the Ballintra area of County Donegal have been completed.

The water mains replacement works involved the decommissioning and replacement of approximately 300 metres of problematic cast iron water mains with modern, high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes.

New water service connections from the public water main to customers’ property boundaries were also laid and connected to the customer’s water supply.

The works were undertaken along Main Street by Farran’s Construction Limited on behalf of Irish Water.

Irish Water’s Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead Declan Cawley said the works were temporarily stopped in response to the COVID-19 crisis, but resumed and are now completed.
