Quinn welcomes safety measures for third-level students

A local students union leader has welcomed the government’s guidance on Covid-19 precautions for third-level colleges.

Third-level students will have to wear face coverings during lectures if they are sitting between one and two metres apart.

The guidelines to ensure the safe resumption of campus activity recommends that a physical distance of two metres during lectures should be maintained where possible.

Where tuition requires a staff member to be less than two metres from students, the staff member should wear a face shield, visor or other PPE.

Jason Quinn, president of the students union in IT Sligo, says the safety of students is paramount.
