Pringle blasts changes to Dáil speaking rights

A Donegal TD says the changes in speaking rights the Government pushed through before the Dáil summer recess was another attempt to silence alternative voices.

Independent TD, Thomas Pringle says it’s an example of the Government using their dominant position to control the House and break up the opposition voice.

Deputy Pringle also expressed his disappointment that the change was pushed through without a proper debate.

The change in speaking time rotas during Dáil debates pushes smaller opposition parties and groupings back to much later in the debate than they had been previously.
Deputy Pringle says the new rota creates the impression that it’s only Government parties and Sinn Fein in the Dáil.
