Sligo businessman warns of ‘cloned’ card scam

A local business owner is warning of a sophisticated scam involving cloned cards.

A cloned credit card is where a legitimate card’s details are copied, meaning that transactions can take place without the owner’s knowledge.

Recently, a business based in Co. Galway that sells quads was scammed out of €4,500.

Pious McClout, of Suip Manufacturing, in Dromard, Co. Sligo, that also sells quads, was almost the victim of a similar scam.

He wants other businesses to be on the lookout.
