A Leitrim Councillor says the changes made to the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme will only help push the price of houses up and further alienate first time buyers.
Sinn Fein Councillor, Padraig Fallon has criticised the Government for changing the scheme without carrying out any impact assessment on how it would affect house prices.
Cllr Fallon claims that the Government have decided to double the claim that can be made under the scheme, despite it being a cash cow for developers which will do nothing to tackle unaffordable house prices and make prices even less affordable for first time buyers
